Johnson, St. Pierre Unite in Seaside Ceremony

Donna Brooks Johnson and Theodore Rene St. Pierre III, both of Clinton, were united in marriage on Saturday, July 27 at six o’clock at the Haywood Avenue Beach Access at Topsail Beach. The Rev. Calvin Sacra officiated the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Margaret Johnson of Garland and the late Mr. Herbert Cleo Johnson. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Bordeaux of Garland and the late Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton Johnson of Garland.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Marilyn St. Pierre of Clinton and the late Mr. Theodore Rene St. Pierre II. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Durwood Vann, formerly of Clinton and Williamston, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Rene St. Pierre of Clinton.

The bride was escorted to the seaside altar by her brother, Duane Edwin Johnson, and given in marriage by her mother. She wore a strapless tea-length gown of tulle, with an embellished bodice and skirt by Oleg Cassini. She wore a flower in her hair and carried a hand tied bouquet of tropical colors of birds of paradise, orchids, lilies, and roses with greenery.

Matrons of honor were Mrs. Amy Daniels Ammons of Salemburg, NC and Mrs. Jaime Hairr Naylor of Salemburg, NC, best friends of the bride. Bridesmaids were Miss Kelly Jewel Cannady of Clinton, NC, friend of the bride, Miss Michelle Kristen Gainey of Clinton, NC, friend of the bride, and Miss Jenna Lauren St. Pierre of Clinton, NC, sister of the groom. The bridesmaids wore strapless, knee-length chiffon dresses in coral and carried a hand tied mixed bouquet of yellow flowers. Honorary bridesmaids and greeters were Mrs. Melissa Ghaul Boney, Mrs. Heather Dudley Johnson, Mrs. Dawn Williams Walters, Miss Amy Lynn McMahon, all friends of the bride, and Mrs. Alice Eggleston St. Pierre, sister-in-law of the groom. Honorary bridesmaids wore yellow dresses of their choice and carried single stem flowers with greenery.

The groom wore khaki linen pants and a white linen button down shirt and wore an orange orchid boutineer. The groom had as his best man, his brother, Michael Courtney St. Pierre of Clinton. Groomsmen were Henry Elliott Moore of Clinton, NC, Donald Dwayne Furmidge of Wilmington, NC., William Scott McLeod of Pinehurst, NC, Marshall Thompson Lee of Clinton, NC., James Claybrone Woody of Greenville, NC., all friends of the groom. Groomsmen wore khaki pants and aqua blue button down shirts. The ring bearer was Master Courtney Jackson St. Pierre, nephew of the groom. He wore khaki shorts, a white shirt, and bow tie.

The musician was vocalist and guitarist, Michael Tyndall of Lillington, NC.

The wedding director was Mrs. Sharon Herring of Newton Grove, NC. Reception director was Mrs. Maria Holler of Raleigh, NC.

The bride is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Counselor Education from North Carolina State University and will graduate in May 2014. She is currently employed as a second grade teacher with Clinton City Schools.

The groom is a graduate of North Carolina State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science. He went on to earn his pilot’s license from the North American Institute of Aviation in Conway, SC. He is currently employed as chief pilot for Prestage Farms of Clinton, NC.

Following the ceremony, a reception, hosted by the bride’s mother, was held at the Historical Society Assembly Building of Topsail Island. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Herring of Clinton, NC. Guests also enjoyed music provided by The Main Event Band of Greenville, NC.

Following a honeymoon to a surprise destination, the couple will reside at 302 Grove St., Clinton, NC.

Rehearsal Dinner

The groom’s mother was hostess to a rehearsal dinner at the Topsail Beach Historical Assembly Building on the eve of the wedding. After the dinner, guests enjoyed dancing to the music of DJ Craig Mann of Wilmington, NC.

Pre-Nuptial Events

On September 29, 2012, the mothers of the couple hosted an engagement party at the home of Marilyn St. Pierre in Clinton, NC.

On May 8, a miscellaneous shower was given by co-workers of the bride at Butler Avenue School, Clinton, NC.

On June 2, 2013, a bridal shower was hosted by the W.M.U. of Parkersburg Baptist Church of Garland, NC.

On June 8, a lawn and garden shower was hosted by Amy and Michael Ammons at the Ammons’ home in Salemburg.

A bachelorette weekend was held in Charleston, SC June 27-30. On the same weekend, the groom enjoyed a bachelor trip to Myrtle Beach, SC with groomsmen and other friends.

The bridesmaids’ luncheon was held Saturday, July 20, on the patio of the Railroad Steak House in Roseboro, NC., and was hosted by Jaime Naylor, Laura Barefoot, Jeanna Ray, and Laurie Smith.

A floating breakfast was held at the home of Tommy and Sharon Herring at Topsail Beach the morning after the wedding. It was hosted by Bob and Ginny Barnett, Wayne and Michelle Reynolds, Richard and Norfleet Herring, Jim and Sallie Jackson, Allen and Mary Eberhardt, and David and Dianne Barnes.
