Dark Horses and Patriots split in volleyball

In their first conference game, the Lady Dark Horses split with Pender, as Clinton’s junior varsity won in consecutive sets, but the varsity fell in three games.

Leading scorer for the LDH was Francesca Jauregui with 2 kills, 1 tip, and 6 aces. Other Clinton stats showed Jamie Jones with 1 dig and 2 blocks; Kimberly Baxter, 4 aces; Madison Mitchell, 1 tip, and 1 ace; Corey Spell, 1 dig, and 2 tips; Jessica Hamilton, 1 tip; Zoey Harris, 1 dig, 4 tips; Sophia Owen, 1 tip; Mary Johnson, 1 block, and 2 aces.

This moves the JV record to 1-0 in the conference and 4-2 overall.

Leading the Dark Horse varsity was Elizabeth Tsao with 3 digs, 1 block, 4 kills, and 3 tips. Tori Tyndall did her part with 9 digs, 1 block, 1 kill, and 1 ace; Maria Thornton, 1 dig; Katelyn O’Neal, 3 digs, 1 ace; Caitlyn Perry, 1 dig, 1 tip; Skyler Ray, 2 digs; Dayna DeMaddis, 1 dig, 1 tip, and 1 ace; Jackie Parker, 1 dig, 1 block; and Taylor Southerland, 5 digs, and 1 ace.

The varsity record falls to 0-1 in the conference and 2-3 overall.

Clinton will host East Bladen next Tuesday.
