In a tough four-set match, the Midway Raiders managed to take the win against the East Bladen Eagles. Scores for the game were 25-11, 25-19, 11-25, and 25-5.
Head coach Jennifer Naylor couldn’t have been more proud of the way her team played.
“The girls played well together. We came in focused, and determined mentally to bring that win home. With the win we are now second in the 2A bracket and 4th overall in our conference. Hopefully we will ruin Pender’s undefeated streak at home on Thursday,” Coach Naylor stated.
“Hannah Hubbard, Amber Poole, and Savannah Spell all had big games and made key game-changing plays,” she continued.
Stats from the game showed Hannah Hubbard with 17 of 13 service points, 1 ace, 10 kills, and 4 digs. She was also named Maxpreps Player of the Game.
Teammates that helped in the cause were Cassidy Strickland with 18 of 8 service points, 2 digs, 15 assists, and 5 aces; Amber Poole, 18 of 11 points, 3 aces, 13 assists, and 9 kills; Michaela Godwin with 3 of 2 points and 5 digs; Savannah Bullins, 3 kills and 1 ace; Ivey Parker, 2 kills; Kelsey Pondo, 3 aces and 7 kills; and Savannah Spell, 2 blocks.
Midway’s conference record moves to 4-4 and 4-9 overall. The Raiders will host Clinton next Tuesday.
