He said MCA’s serving improved in the second set and the Lady Lions led for most of the game. Then in the third game, the Lions jumped out to a 5 point led and never looked back.
Leading scorers for MCA were Savannah Fann with 15 pts; Hanna Horne 13 pts; and Brianna Wheeler, 13 pts. The Wildcat top scorers were Denise Lamb and Cameron Hunter with 12 points each.
“Hobbton Middle served the ball really well. They have several strong hitters and will be a very tough team as the season continues. I was pleased with our play after we got by the slow start. Savannah Fann served really well for us tonite and that was key,” Coach Heinz stated.
“Sydney Norris and Brianna Wheeler led our defense, and we had good middle hitting from Erynn Sessoms and Hanna Horne,” he added.
Coach Heinz, who is the athletic director at MCA, also thanked the middle schools for adding Mintz to their schedules this season.
“I really appreciate several of the middle schools agreeing to play us on their off days. The games have all been close, and the sportsmanship on the court and in the stands has been exemplary.” I hope this can be a continuing relationship and grow into other sports as well,” he said.
