The Dark Horses ran away with a 10-1 win in Patriot Country on Wednesday.
The 9-goal rule was enacted at the 65 minute mark when Clinton scored their 10th goal. Assistant Coach Jamie Williams said the score was 7-0 at halftime and then Pender scored their goal from a penalty kick at the 57 minute mark. Clinton came back and found the back of the net twice in a row, at the 64 and 65 minute mark, to end the game.
“We had several chances to end the game before they scored their goal, but we just didn’t do it,” he said.
Leading the scoring for the Dark Horses was Connor Bass, who hit the net 3 times. He was followed by Luis Aguilar and Edwin Acosta, each with 2 goals; Eric Bradshaw, Will Reagan, and Marcus Faison had 1 goal each.
Credited with assists was Aguilar with 2; Wyman Faison, Eric Bradshaw, Jose Aguilar, Spell Carr, and Ivan Palencia all had 1 assist each.
This brings the Dark Horse record to 12-1-2 overall and 8-0 in the conference. They travel to East Bladen on Monday.
