The Leopards soccer team faced Rosewood on Wednesday night and it was said to be a dogfight to the very end. Lakewood fell short by a final score of 2-1.
Sadi Zabala had the goal for the Leopards. Lakewood’s goalie, L.J. Faircloth, had 10 saves throughout the game.
“Rosewood is a solid team, and it was a good battle. My boys tonight never quit fighting. They did not quit, no matter what odds came against them, they kept going,” insisted Leopard head coach Jay Faircloth.
With this being the last game in the regular season, Coach Faircloth said he was proud of the way his team has grown and that he hoped they could somehow make the playoffs.
“As a coach for a high school team, you want to win, and the team wants to win, but winning isn’t what this season was all about. I got to watch these guys grow up, and I got to watch them learn from each other, and from me as well. I am extremely proud of my team, and I don’t know if we’ll get another game, but I think these boys deserve to play one more game. I don’t think that well happen, but I’m still very proud of my team,” Coach Faircloth stated.
The Leopards; overall record is 4-9-1, and in the conference it is 4-8.
