Sampson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two different shooting incidents in the county reported within four hours of each other Sunday, one in which a man was shot during an altercation.
The first shooting, reported at 7:50 p.m. Sunday, occurred at 492 Kenan Weeks Road, Newton Grove.
Sheriff’s Cpl. Marcus Smith said that Crisostomo Villeda, 46, of the Newton Grove residence and others at the home at the time reported three shots fired at the residence, with the home struck once. No one was injured as a result and, according to reports, a white SUV was seen traveling away from the area toward Hobbton Highway.
“Anyone with additional information is encouraged to call us,” said Smith.
The other shooting, reported at 11:50 p.m., happened at 200 Clive Jacobs Road, Newton Grove. Deputies responded to a call of a gunshot victim and, once they arrived, found that Andre Boone, 33, of the Clinton residence, had been shot in the leg. The wound was not life-threatening, Smith said.
According to reports, Boone’s sister heard a commotion inside the home and subsequently saw her brother arguing with another man. She called 911 and, when deputies arrived, they detected an odor of marijuana, the gunman had fled the home and “the victim would not cooperate,” Smith said.
No arrests have been made as authorities continue to look into the matter.
“This is an ongoing investigation,” Smith noted.
