Coach Jason Fussell’s Midway Raider junior varsity football team put 49 points on the board Thursday night and held West Bladen to 26 as they posted a victory in their final home game.

West Bladen onside kicked to start the game and the Raiders started on their own 40. Moments later, Larry Blanks scampered 18 yards for the first score. Jackson Carr kicked his first of 5 PAT’s for a 7-0 lead.

After a Knight punt, Midway took over at the 30. Their drive ended in a 9 yard touch-down run by Terrell McGee. The home team led 14-0 with 4 seconds left in the 1st quarter.

Early in the 2nd frame, West Bladen’s Colby Ashe got loose for a 66 yard touchdown run. A 2 point conversion made it 14-8.

Blanks scored again on the next Raider possession. He sprinted 29 yards, but the 2 point attempt failed. It was 20-8 at the 8:58 mark of the 2nd period.

Four minutes later, Hunter Prevatte ran 27 yards for a Knight score.

Then on the Raiders’ first play of the ensuing possession, a McGee outburst netted 65 yards and another touchdown. The Raiders closed out the half with yet another 7. Quarterback Austin Raynor connected with Caleb Lockamy for a 15 yard scoring play. The home team led 34-14 at intermission.

In the third period, with the Knights starting from the 9 yard line, Raider James Hardee recovered his 2nd fumble of the game and this one was in the end zone for a Midway touchdown. Raiders led 41-14.

Ashe scored again for the Knights as the 3rd period came to a close. The Raiders last touchdown came 3 minutes later on 28 yard run by Dillon Lee. Blanks ran for the 2 point conversion.

Derrick Grant ran 8 yards for the final West Bladen touchdown and the final score of 49-26.
