Swarming into Trask territory, the Clinton Dark Horses dominated the Titans with a final score of 41-14.
With it being senior night for the Titans, a hyped-up Trask jumped on the scoreboard first at 9:12. With a good point after kick, the Titan score was 7-0. That good feeling didn’t last long for the Trask fans.
Getting the ball in his hands, Silas Herring for Clinton returned the favor by running the ball to the end zone. Kris Royal then kicked a worthy ball, making the score 7-7.
Not accepting a tie, the Horses scored another TD with 50 seconds left of the first quarter to make the score 7-14.
Halfway into the second quarter, the Dark Horses got hot and scored back-to-back TDs when Kris Royal took the ball into the end zone and then three minutes later, Silas Herring got the ball in his hands and crossed the goal line, to push the score up to 7-27.
Getting the ball back, the Titans scored a touchdown with just a few minutes left of the first half to put the intermission score at 14-27.
Coming back after Trask’s Senior Night presentation, the Horses did not hesitate to get into the end zone again. With Silas Herring on a TD, the Horses completed a 2-point conversion, making their score 35-14. At 6:30 in the third quarter, Clinton scored their final TD. Ending the third quarter with a score of 41-14, Clinton held a major lead.
Not giving up, the Titans battled with Clinton throughout the fourth quarter, but Clinton’s defense didn’t let anyone through.
Passing for Clinton, quarterback Jonathan Wright completed 3 of 5 for 62 yards.
Jacob Smith caught 1 for 28 yards; Chandler Whitfield, 1 for 25 yards; and Aaron Visor 1 for 9 yards.
Dark Horse Silas Herring had a fantastic game with 214 yards on 10 carries and 3 touchdowns. Kris Royal was second with 92 yards on 4 carries and 2 touchdowns. Teammate Julian Wilkins had 7 carries on 31 yards; and Quintin Faison, 3 for 7 yards and 1 TD; Albert Deaver had 7 carries for 41 yards, and Kenneth Ford had 2 carries for 5 yards.
On defense, Roy Williams provided Clinton with 9 tackles, Kenneth Ford with 7 and a half, Jacob Smith and Khari Fryar with 4 and a half, and Kris Royal with 4 tackles.
Clinton will face the Bulldogs of Wallace-Rose Hill next Friday in Dark Horse Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
