Paul A. Hackmann, CEO of Skill Creations, Inc. and Skill Creations of Clinton and Warsaw, was awarded the Steve Jordan Lighthouse Award at the North Carolina Providers Council Annual Conference in Greensboro last month.
The award, presented on Oct. 10, is named for Steve Jordan, former director of the North Carolina Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services, who died in a bicycling accident in July 2012. Nominees were evaluated on their transformative leadership, advocacy, mentoring of future leaders, innovative practices and involvement in change for the community and state.
In 1984, Hackmann founded Skill Creations Inc., a private, nonprofit company that specializes in serving the needs of persons with disabilities. Through his leadership, Skill Creations has grown to serve over 600 individuals and employs over 800 persons throughout North Carolina.
Hackmann serves on the ECBH Provider Council, is executive board member of Rubicon and a member of the American Association of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. In 2010 he was awarded the Outstanding Provider from Mental Health Partners.
