It is hoped everyone had a happy and memorable Christmas this year, but talk about a quiet Christmas, there was not a quieter place in the county than the Sampson Community Theatre on Christmas day. The box office was closed, not a kernel of popcorn was being popped, there were no auditions, no rehearsals were in progress, no backdrops were being painted, no sets were being built, and to our knowledge not a creature was stirring as the big stage awaited the auditions for the “Dixie Swim Club” on Saturday Jan. 4 at 10 a.m. with direction by Mrs. Kathy Day.
“Dixie Swim Club” is a play based on five members of a college swimming team who meet every summer at a cottage on North Carolina’s coast to renew their friendships and have fun together for a few days. Highlighted are four of these weekends that span 34 years so each actor will age that much over the course of the play. Needless to say there are many opportunities for a lot of levity and moments of concern and seriousness over the years and will give our audiences a chance to experience each emotion. “Dixie Swim Club” will open on Feb.14 at 8 p.m. so make your plans now to see this delightful comedy.
2014 Patron Sponsor tickets are now available for a donation to the theater. These consist of two complimentary tickets to every show we produce in 2014. Contact any Board Member to obtain yours and be entertained all year. If you would like a Gift Certificate for family members or friends they may be obtained for half the Patron Sponsor donation and you may get as many as you like by calling 990-1359.

• Prayer for the day(and every day): “Lord, keep your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth.
• Doubt not your wife’s wisdom, — look who she married. !!
• Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.
