Clinton and Midway squared off in a conference battle Friday evening, as the Lady Dark Horses defeated the Lady Raiders, 77-51.

Mikayla Boykin, the freshman phenom for Clinton led all scores with 26 points, and showed why the college letters keep arriving at her door. Clinton dominated the glass and pace of the game, which Clinton Coach Chris Owens said they wanted to do.

“This allowed us to score in transition, which is something we’re always trying to do,” said Owens.

Kristen Glasper and DeAsia Edwards played really good defense as they each had over 5 steals. Glasper scored in double figures with 19 points.

Midway got solid play from sophomore Taylor Faircloth, who continues to improve. Faircloth knocked down contested jumpers and led Midway with 15 points. Morgan Tew chipped in 11 points while grabbing 7 boards for the Lady Raiders.

“The scoreboard was no indication to how well we played,” said Lady Raider coach Jennifer Naylor.

“Clinton is a great team, but I feel like we really played well tonight. We were undersized, as it seems we normally are, but I am so pleased with the way we played tonight. We did some great team things tonight, and I hope it’s something we can build on and continue to get better from” finished Naylor.
