The Lady Spartans went toe to toe with the Lady Titans Monday night in Spartan Country. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but, due to weather conditions, it was moved to Monday at Union. The Titans dominated on the court, and walked away with the victory 60-28.
Both teams struggled finding the basket in the beginning, which resulted in a first quarter score of 1-3, Titans leading. Union still had trouble scoring in the second, while Trask began to warm up to the goal. The halftime score was 6-25, Union falling behind the Titans. When they reappeared on the court, the Lady Spartans started scoring more frequently, and added 13 points to their end of the scoreboard. However, the Titans kept pushing forward, and added 21 points of their own. The fourth led to 14 more Titan points, and only 9 for the Spartans. The end result was an overwhelming Lady Titan victory, 60-28.
Leading scorers for the Lady Spartans were Destiny Robinson with 7 points, Shiquilla Walker with 6 points, Eva Long with 5 points, Faith McKoy with 5 points.
Spartan Head Coach Bryant Register said, “First off I want to congratulate the Lady Titans on their win tonight, they have a very good basketball team. Overall tonight was not one of our better efforts of the season. We came out very flat, just weren’t moving offensively, and standing around on defense. In the second half, I did see some flashes of the team I think we can be. We just have to bring a more consistent effort to every game. If the weather holds up, we’ll get back to practice soon and get ready for Wallace Friday.”
The Spartans’ game scheduled for Friday evening was actually postponed until next Saturday, at Wallace.
