Clinton clinched the out Four County Conference regular season championship on Saturday as they defeated Wallace, at Wallace, 67-52. Michael Boykin led Clinton in scoring with 16 points.

Clinton had some struggles in the first half, and had a bit of a hangover from Friday night’s loss to Trask. Wallace led the Dark Horses at the break, 27-24.

Clinton’s defense was stifling in the second half, as they played with a sense of urgency and won the game going away. Thaxter Spruil played a big game for Clinton with 8 points and 8 rebounds, OJ Jones had 9 points and 9 boards, and Jalen Banks had 12 points.

Clinton had some very valuable minutes from freshman Jerimiah Pope who had 8 points and 7 rebounds.

“Great win for our kids, and our program” said head coach Randy Jordan of Clinton. “We were flat in the first half but I love the way we played in the second half. I have to give all of the credit to the players and my assistant coaches. We hope that this conference championship will give us a top four seed in the Eastern Region of the playoffs” finished Jordan.

Clinton finished their season 18-5 overall, going 11-3 in the Four County Conference. They will host the Union Spartans in round one of the conference tournament on Wednesday.
