The Lady Leopards faced Weldon on Monday night to kick of the playoffs. Lakewood fell short with ending the game with a final score of 43-39. The score by quarters were, 8-9; 25-16; 33-28; 39-43.
Lofton Kerr said “We played really good. I’m proud of the girls, but I am disappointed that we did lose. We led the whole game up until the last 1:40 seconds. We had most of the control throughout the game but we just couldn’t finish it. We were up by about 4 points in the end but we missed a few key layups and some more mistakes cost us the game.”
Coach Kerr said he feels that next year holds a lot of potential, because the team will only be losing one senior. He said he hopes that with a year of basketball as a varsity team is under their belt, they will have the experience they need for the following year.
Lofton said he was a bit disappointed as to how he felt the girls didn’t seem to grow very much as a team this year.
“We seemed to just stay still. We weren’t able to go anywhere. That caused u to lose few games that we should have won. Hopefully our leaders on the team will be able to push the girls for the next season.”
The Lady Leopards ended the season with a final record of 14-9
