Midway traveled to West Bladen Friday evening to grab their ninth win of the season. The Raiders downed the Knights, 9-1. Taylor Calcutt put in good work on the mound for Midway as he pitched 6 innings, giving up a run on 5 hits while striking out 5.
Matthew Barefoot closed out the game for Midway, as he came in in the 7th to strike out the side. Barefoot helped out offensively as well as he went 1-3 with 2 RBIs.
Other notable hitters for Midway include Calcutt going 2-5 with an RBI, Kyle Hawley going 1-2 with an RBI, Cody Baker going 3-4 with an RBI, Luke Clark going 2-3 with 2 RBIs and a double, and Tyler Pope who went 2-4 with an RBI.
Midway’s head coach Jason Fussell was once again pleased with his team’s play and their ability to hit the ball. “Our bats came alive again tonight and we had a few errors but they weren’t costly,” said Fussell.
Midway is now 9-1 on the year and 7-o in the conference. They are set to put their six-game win streak on the line as they host Rosewood Monday in Spivey’s Corner.
