SCC announces spring semester SECU Continuing Ed scholarships

Sampson Community College, in conjunction with the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) and the State Employees Credit Union (SECU), announces the awarding of five scholarships for the 2013-14 spring semester. Receiving SECU scholarships are Kelly Johnson, Certified Nursing Assistant student; Windy Williamson, Certified Nursing Assistant student; Ashley Walker, Certified Nursing Assistant student; Dorothy Scrivner, Certified Nursing Assistant student; and Camilla Lynn Sessoms, Healthcare Billing and Coding student.

This fiscal year, the State Employees Credit Union has awarded a total of ten $750 scholarships to each of the 50 community colleges in North Carolina. The Continuing Education Division of Sampson Community College awarded 5 scholarships in fall semester and is awarding 5 scholarships this spring. The scholarships are targeted to unemployed and underemployed adults, military veterans, underemployment insurance claimants, and members of the North Carolina National Guard. Priority is given to students who are enrolled in technical programs that lead to certification such as allied health programs, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), CDL Truck Driver training, and Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration training.
