Clinton claims county golf match

Lakewood hosted a non-conference golf match with Midway, Hobbton, Clinton, and Union also participating. The match was played in cold, windy conditions Wednesday afternoon.

Reid Darden of Clinton was medalist in the match, as he fired an impressive 73 at Lakewood Country Club.

Darden was joined by Dark Horse teammates Hayden Lanier, Eric Bradshaw, and Peyton Holder with scores of 78, 87, and 91 respectively. The Horses won the match with a team total of 327.

Lakewood finished second as a team and Griffin Faircloth finished second individually. Faircloth shot 75 on his home course, as Tim White shot 80, Trace Faircloth shot 99, and Taylor Freeman shot 98 for a Leopard total of 347.

Union was third with a team score of 352. The Spartans were led by senior Tyler Ross’ 77 and sophomore Evan Johnson’s 78. Brady Roberts shot 88 and Spencer Usher shot 104 to round out the scoring for Union.

Midway was last in the match with a team total of 376. Dillon Hawley shot 86, Clay Honeycutt shot 91, Logan Allen shot 99, and Aaron Rhodes shot 100.

Hobbton brought only one golfer to the match, Alex Parham, who shot 103.

The teams will play again after the Easter holiday.
