Midway took on Wallace in a double header Friday evening on the softball field. Wallace’s pitching and defense dominated the two games, as there was only one Raider hit in either game.
Wallace won the first game, 8-0, but the Raiders played much better in the night-cap of the double-header. Wallace took the second game, 2-0. Kayla Hobson was the only Midway batter to get a hit in the first game, there were no Raiders to get hits in the second game.
Brittany Watson pitched 13 total innings over the two games Friday evening. In the night-cap, she allowed just four hits and had a strikeout.
Amber Poole played a key role for Midway at the shortstop postition, a place she normally does not play. Poole is the starting centerfielder, but had to play shortstop in Friday’s contests. Coach Leigh Ann Smith of Midway was pleased with her play, and the play of Kelsey Pondo at third base.
Midway is back in action against Pener on Monday.
