Pender traveled to Spivey’s Corner Monday evening for a tussle with the already conference champion, Midway Raiders. Midway continued to play good baseball, as they won 11-1 in 5 innings.
Dylan Hardison was on the hill for Midway, and was the winning pitcher. Hardison pitched the complete 5 innings, striking out 7, and allowing a run on 5 hits.
Offensively for Midway, Cody Baker went 1-3 with 2 RBIs; Taylor Calcutt went 1-2 with an RBI; Kyle Hawley went 1-3 with 2 RBIs; Tyler Pope went 2-2; Luke Clark went 1-1 with a double and an RBI; Drake Strickland went 2-2 with an RBI; Dylan Hardison helped his own cause, going 1-2 with an RBI single, and Troy Spell went 2-2 with a double.
Midway’s bats came alive in the third inning, after they trailed by a run for the first few innings. The Raiders had 11 runs on 11 hits.
Midway is now 17-3 on the year and 10-0 in conference play. They take their undefeated conference record on the road Tuesday at Trask, and will host Union in a double header Friday evening to wrap up the regular season.
“We played well tonight. It was a slugglish start, but we got the bats rolling a little bit. Dylan gave us a good outing on the mound,” said Midway’s head coach, Jason Fussell.
