On a warm and sunny afternoon, a group of youngsters were ready to play ball. But before the little athletes pitched balls, swung bats and ran through the field, they received a big gift.

Steve Stefanovich, president of the GO Automotive Group, presented a $500 check to the City of Clinton Recreation and Parks Department.

“The GO staff is always excited to work with the young people in our community,” Stefanovich said.

He said they’ve worked with youth organizations for more than 30 years, with several of those years were spent sponsoring baseball, soccer and basketball teams.

“We want to continue this because this is what the strength of our community is,” Stefanovich said. “It’s our children.”

Jonathan Allen, director of the Clinton Recreation and Parks Department, said the donation will help the department with purchasing uniforms and supplies.

“Our department is very appreciative of the assistance that all of our sponsors give, especially when it’s an entire league that’s being sponsored,” Allen said. “We’re gracious to GO Automotive and the Chevy Youth program for providing this opportunity to the kids.”
