Heroin found, arrest made in I-40 stop

A female motorists was charged with heroin and marijuana possession following a stop for a traffic violation on Interstate 40 by sheriff’s authorities, according to reports filed Monday.


Seanita Danielle Lewis, 25, of 3704 Merriwether Drive, Apt. H, Durham, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.


According to information released by the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, around 9:30 a.m. Friday, a deputy with the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team stopped a white Honda Accord on I-40 near Newton Grove for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the Honda, reports state.


Following a search of the vehicle, 12 dosage units of heroin and 3 grams of marijuana were located.


The driver of the vehicle, Lewis, was taken into custody and placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $3,000 bond. Her first court appearance is scheduled for June 18.
