Carlie Piercey of Clinton was awarded the coveted “Best All Around” award, encompassing results from all contests and events conducted during the annual National Junior Red Angus Association Round-Up which was held in California.

In recognition of her accomplishments, Piercy was awarded a custom designed belt buckle and hand-tooled leather briefcase during the awards banquet at McPhee Red Angus in Lodi, Calif. on Saturday, June 28.

The Sampson native represented North Carolina at the Round-Up, moving up this year to the senior age division. She had to compete in print ad design, t-shirt design, poster, speech, scrapbook, cattle judging, stockman’s quiz, equipment identification contest, team advocacy and beef quiz bowl contests.

Points from each contest were totaled to determine the highest individual score.

Youth attending the Round-Up toured various beef and dairy cattle farms, horse ranches, cattle feedlot, vineyard tours, Fresno State University, California State FFA Headquarters and Yosemite National Park.

Piercey said she greatly appreciated all the support she received from her sponsors allowing her the opportunity to travel for the first time to California to learn more about the livestock industry while making new friends from around the United States.
