Mrs. Everlina Tucker-Webb was born Jan. 23, 1917. She celebrated her 100th birthday on Jan. 23. Known to all as Aunt Everlina, her family, friends and community rejoiced with her at Mingle Hill Disciples Church in Salemburg.

Her best friend, Mrs. Sannie Purdie, who is 101 years old, attended the celebration. Those attending said it was a real honor to witness a total of 201 years under the same roof.

Mrs. Everlina, who worked on a farm for many years and later worked at Pineland College until she retired, has a number of hobbies, including fishing, cooking and gardening.

Family members said she loves God, her family, her stuff, watching television and her cats.

Her secret to life, they said, is that she always obeyed her father and mother and believed in treating people the way she wanted to be treated.
