Members of the Just-A-Mere Garden Club made bird feeders for their gardens at the meeting on Oct. 3. The meeting was held at the fellowship hall of Roberts Grove Church. Catherine Gilmore was the night’s hostess. The ladies painted the bird feeder framework and assembled it for a completed project. Beverly Best and Catherine Gilmore directed the ladies with step-by-step instructions.

President Gilmore presided at the meeting that was attended by eleven members. The group read the collect to begin the meeting.

Rita Wilson read a humorous story by Lisa Harper in which it is good to laugh at oneself. The scripture, Proverbs 17:22, reinforces the value of laughter in life.

Business items included a report on the Fall Board Meeting which four members attended. Plans were discussed to attend the District 8 Meeting at Lumberton and a fundraising event for a children’s garden at the Fayetteville Botanical Garden. In other matters, members were named who would apply for the different awards. It was announced that Midway Elementary School will be hosting an outdoor science classroom presentation.

Rena McLamb reported on pruning and other incidentals done on the grounds of Midway Elementary School.

Rachel Edwards won the hostess gift drawing, winning a flower-arranging “frog”.

Refreshments featured pumpkin pie cupcakes, pimento cheese sandwiches, and a mixture of fall candies, popcorn, peanuts and crackers along with a choice of soft drinks.
