Roseboro Salemburg Middle School parents and staff were treated to a spring concert May 12 by the band and the chorus. The band is directed by Chris Pittman and the chorus is directed by David Riska.
The chorus program is a developing program, with strong, promising voices. At the concert, they performed an arrangement of “Hello” by Adele, which eighth grade students arranged. Each grade level learned a spiritual and a festival song. Parents and teachers were deeply moved by their music. The students in the chorus are developing fine musicianship and etiquette, and their voices will take them far.
Band students at RSMS have had a great year. All students performed for various activities. Some of those include the annual winter and spring concerts. In addition, all groups played for both local elementary school’s fifth graders for recruiting to the band program.
Seventh and eighth grade students participated in the Sampson County All-County Band with their peers from other area schools. They had such an exciting time that they wanted to share a few songs they performed with their classmates back at Roseboro-Salemburg that we added some pieces to our own concert. We also had nine 8th grade students volunteer their time outside of the school day to perform with the Lakewood High School Leopard Pride Marching Band.
