Two men have been charged in separate thefts, one in connection with a service station last year and the other to his family’s home where a cache of firearms was taken last month.

David Vincent McArthur, 48, of 4137 Groundnut Creek Drive, La Grange, was charged with larceny, obtaining property by false pretense, breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods/property in the service station incident.

His bond was set at $22,000 secured.

Warrants were issued on McArthur in July 2015. He was arrested Thursday in the area of Rackley Road and Rowan Road, according to Sampson County Sheriff’s reports.

The charges stem from the theft of items from a damaged service station on Church Road, Clinton. Orly Maldonado reported on June 29, 2015, that an automobile, a tire machine and tire balancer were stolen along with two fork lifts. The items were valued at a total of $22,500.

In the other incident, Kevin Sterling Sutton, 31, of 471 Julius Sutton Hwy., Mount Olive, stands charged with larceny and possessing/concealing stolen property. His bond was set at $10,000 secured.

Warrants were issued on Sutton Thursday and served at the Sheriff’s Office the same day.

The felony charges stem from a larceny at the Julius Sutton Highway residence, reported by Joe Sutton on May 19.

In that break-in, a slew of firearms were reported stolen from a safe inside the home. The firearms, which were varying types of handguns, were valued at a total of about $6,400.
