ROSEBORO — Clark and Jennifer Honeycutt have one place they love to eat when they vacation at Carolina Beach — Uncle Vinny’s Pizzeria. The couple loves eating at the restaurant so much, they have opened a franchise of the business in downtown Roseboro.
Clark, who is from Salemburg, and Jennifer, who is from Newton Grove, say they enjoy the Italian eatery so much, they often eat two meals a day at the restaurant when they are in the Carolina Beach area. After becoming friends with the owner, Uncle Vinny, they decided to branch out and open an eatery of their own. Plans and construction to renovate a downtown location began in February, and the official opening night was July 6.
“Our opening was awesome,” Jennifer said. “We had a great turnout and a wonderful opening night.”
Uncle Vinny’s isn’t a typical buffet style pizza joint. Instead, the restaurant offers fresh, made to order pizza, pasta, subs, calzones and salads. The pizza is New York style brick oven pizza and cooked with fresh ingredients.
“Our signature item is the pizza,” Jennifer added. “Everything we make is made fresh and made to order.”
In addition to bringing the local eatery to the downtown area, opening the business has provided a boost in the economy, employing 20 full and part time employees.
As part of the renovations, the location is two-stories, with seating for 100 people and a private dining area in the upstairs portion of the building.
“We wanted to offer something different to the community instead of them having to travel out of the area to get good food,” Jennifer shared. “This is our way to show our support of the community and give back to the community.”
The restaurant is open Monday-Thursday from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Sundays from 12-9 p.m. For more information, call 910-525-5200.
