The big stage of the Sampson Community Theater is once again alive with the sound of children laughing, singing and dancing as the 74 cast members from the counties of Sampson, Duplin, Wayne, Bladen and Cumberland rehearse for “The Lion King Jr” performances which are scheduled to open at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4 for the first of eight shows.

The cast has been split into two casts so that each child will be in four shows. This is nice for the cast but it is a challenge for the Director Angela Martin and others (light and sound, green room workers, etc.) because it means twice as many rehearsals while the cast learns its lyrics and choreography separately. Prestage Farms is proudly sponsoring this show and they have been joined by Larry King Associates of White Lake who has agreed to sponsor the costumes which are complex and costly. As a side note the Sampson Community Theater is one of first community theaters to produce “The Lion King, Jr.”

Any youth groups or daycares that are interested should know there will be two daycare shows on Aug. 4 and Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. Contact Angela Martin at 910-379-8737 for more information.

Thoughts until next week

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and some of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time — A. Lincoln

To avoid criticism do nothing, say nothing, be nothing.

All that we are is the result of what we have thought.
