The big stage of the Sampson Community Theater was alive with colorful and unusual costumes, smiling faces, beautiful backdrops and side panels, appreciative audiences and a cast that was having the time of their lives over the past weekend as “The Lion King, Jr.” had its first performances.
You have the opportunity to enjoy this children’s musical this weekend with performances Friday, Aug. 12 and Saturday, Aug. 13 at 8 p.m. and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14. You will love the costumes and the enthusiasm of the cast and you are advised to get your tickets early at Inkspot or Matthews Gifts because there were sellouts last weekend. You are also advised to get to the theater early if you want a seat of your choosing because this show has open seating and a lot of folks had to sit in the balcony last weekend if they got a seat at all when arriving late.
Many thanks to Prestage Farms, Larry King Associates and our patrons and volunteers for their sponsorship of this blockbuster.

Thoughts until next week:
Men marry women with the hope they will never change. Women marry men with the hope they will change. Invariably they are both disappointed.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them what they could or should do for themselves.
Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.
