Locals earn achievements


Smith


The National Society of High School Scholars announced that Catherine Smith has been selected to become a member of the esteemed organization.

The Society recognized top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship and community commitment. The announcement was made by NSHSS Founder and Chairman Claes Nobel, senior member of the family that established the Nobel Prizes.

Smith is a student at Clinton High School and the daughter of Curt and Ingrid Smith.

Harper attends conference

Jamie L. Harper of Sampson Middle School recently attended a program held at the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching, a recognized national leader in professional development programming for our state’s teachers.

Increasing teacher effectiveness is fundamental to improving public education. NCCAT provides teachers with new knowledge, skills, teaching methods, best practices and information to take back to their classrooms. NCCAT conducts a wide variety of high-quality professional development for pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade teachers.
