Suspects are being sought in a weekend altercation that saw one Salemburg woman assaulted and another forcibly kept inside a vehicle for a brief time.

The incident, according to Sampson County Sheriff’s reports, occurred late Friday night on Tuckers Lane in Salemburg, when two men forcefully entered the residence and began physically assaulting one of the females inside the home. The two suspects also assaulted other victims inside the residence before leaving the scene.

Sheriff’s Lt. Marcus Smith confirmed that one of the females was forced inside a vehicle during the time the suspects were at the residence.

No one, he said, was missing at this time, however.

“The investigation is ongoing so there is little else I can say at this time,” Smith noted.

Officers were dispatched after a call came in to 911 reporting the incident. EMS also responded to the scene and transported one victim to the emergency room to be treated.

The victims names are not being released, but reports show one was a 25-year-old female, another was a 47-year-old female and a third was a 57-year-0ld male.

Smith said no suspect information was available at this time.

“We hope to know more later this week,” Smith said. “Right now, all I can say is we are still investigating.”
