The Union Elementary School pre-K students and staff were presented with a positive and educational experience demonstrating some of the culture and traditions of Native Americans. In observance of Native American Heritage Month, Alicia Arroyo and representatives of the Coharie Tribe, made several presentations that were very inspirational about the Native Americans’ history. Members of the tribe performed a traditional tribal dance for the students and several of the students had a chance to perform some tribal dance steps as well. Samantha Simmons-Alonso, Miss Indian North Carolina, greeted the students and shared with them a storytelling.
