SMS band students compete, take part in clinic


The students who participated are, first row, Kaya Kusmierczuk, Cristal Ortiz, Nidia Pineda, Misael Luna, and Miles Chalk; second row, Tatiana Austria, Connor Johnson, Connor Kennedy, Carrie Jordan, and Justin Ruiz; third row, Chloe Zeng, Kylie Daughtry, Angel Gallegos, Madlyn Hales, Amani Joyner, and Oscar Bennet; and fourth row, Deja McKelly, Sarah Harrison, Noah Jackson, Spencer Westerbeek, Casey Parker, and Oscar Bennett.


Sampson Middle School band students competed at Scotland High School Feb. 17-18, 2017. Twenty-one band students from Sampson Middle School participated in the North Carolina Southeastern All-District Band Clinic.

The days were filled with music and competition. These 21 band students were chosen out of 600 band students from the Southeastern region of North Carolina. The auditions were held in January. These exceptional band students had to perform scales, a solo, and sight-read music.

Sampson Middle school had three students to become eligible to audition for the North Carolina All-State Honors Band Saturday, March 4. These students include Chloe Zeng, Spencer Westerbeek, and Cristal Ortiz.
