Les Miserables school edition rehearsals begin

By Nicholas Davis - Guest columnist

The cast list has arrived for the Sampson Community Theatre’s production of Les Miserables school edition.

I am truly honored to be playing the role of Jean Valjean. This will be my third production at the Sampson Community Theatre and my fifth production overall. Les Miserables school edition will be one of my last shows before I start attending William Peace University in the fall.

Jean Valjean is pursued by Inspector Javert who is played by Ben Casey. Ben Casey is a senior at Clinton High School, and has been involved in the CHS Theatre program throughout his entire high school career. Here at the Sampson Community Theatre, Ben has last joined us in How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Last year, Ben Casey received the award for Best Male Actor at the 2016 NCTC High School Regional Play Fair. The role of Javert will allow him to showcase his skill onstage once again before he wraps up his senior year. The production will be held on April 28-30 and May 5-7 with Friday and Saturday shows at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Tickets will be on sale soon — so get them early.

The production is directed by Angela Martin and is sponsored by David H. Hobson, Attorney at Law.
