Danford named Tree Farmer of Year

Sampson County Ranger Grant Jones awarded Edwin Danford with the County’s Outstanding Tree Farmer of the Year Award. ‘Woodlands have been a very special interest of mine for many years,’ said Danford, who has attended seminars given by N.C. Forest Service, N.C. Wildlife, Longleaf Alliance and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, learning about best management practices for family forests. ‘I used this knowledge in my Forest Stewardship Plan that should bring sustainability and good stewardship for my land,’ said Danford. ‘This is a living document which will guide my land ownership objectives. Hopefully this desire will be passed on to my children and grandchildren.’
