The Sampson County Board of Education honored the school nurses at the May Board of Education meeting.

National School Nurse Day was May 10. This day is sponsored by the National Association of School Nurses (NASN). They recognize the contributions schools nurses make every day to improve the safety, health, and academic success of all students.

This year’s theme, “Healthy Nurse, Healthy Students” is reflective of the significant roles school nurses have in the healthcare in their school communities, as well as in modeling health and resiliency. Healthy children learn better, and school nurses work to remove barriers to learning.

North Carolina school nurses join with the more than 73,000 school nurses in the U.S. to help students meet new challenges they face today and work to support education and advance student health. Health, healthy lifestyles and graduation are the goals.
