Winners of the Sampson Arts Council Juried Photography Show have been announced. The photographs are currently on display in the gallery of the Victor R. Small House on College Street.

From black and white to color, the council is honored to display 35 photographs by 20 professional and amateur photographers ages 14 through adult. Photos will be on display through July 13.

The artists are from seven counties including Sampson, Wayne, Johnston, New Hanover, Duplin, Mecklenburg and Caldwell. Many of the artists participating, who live outside of Sampson County, have ties to Sampson County in some way. Shane Booth, associate professor of visual arts at Fayetteville State University, served as the judge, and $600 in cash prizes was awarded.

The gallery is open to the public from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tuesday-Friday or by appointment.

The Sampson Arts Council Juried Photography Show winners are:

Honorable mention — Harry Taylor, “Rob with 1937 Blake,” Wilmington;

Third place — William Dixon, “Cheetah Cub”, Matthews;

Second place — Tom Turlington, “Vapors Mollusk”, Clinton;

First place — Kelly Jones, “Welcome Home”, Newton Grove and;

Best in show — Fred Beaujeu-Dufour, Clinton.
