Theodore Suess Geisel was born in 1904 and died 87 years later. He was an American author, a poet, a political cartoonist, a publisher, an animator and an artist but he is better known under the pen name of Dr. Seuss (because his father wanted him to study medicine) and who wrote several of the most popular children’s stories of all time selling over 600 million copies and being translated into more than 20 languages before his death.
He published over 60 books in his career which gave rise to numerous adaptations including 11 television specials, four feature films, a Broadway musical and four television series. The Broadway musical was titled “Seussical” and Angela Martin has obtained the rights to perform the show at the Sampson Community Theater.
Angela sent the following message from Arizona where she is visiting — Auditions for Seussical, the Musical will take place Saturday, July 15 at 10 a.m. and Sunday, July 16 at 2 p.m. at the Sampson Community Theatre. The productions will be Aug. 25-27 and Sept. 3-5.
Please come prepared to sing a song and possible learn a dance combination. All ages are encouraged to audition. The Sponsor is Performance Dodge/Ford and we appreciate their support.
