SCC students say cheese

Sampson Community College’s Sheep and Goat Production class ended the summer semester by conducting a dairy goat milking and cheese making lab. Students visited a local farm owned by former SCC Animal Science Chair Dr. Laurie Hamilton, where students were able to milk a dairy goat. After milking in the barn was complete, students moved inside where they pasteurized the milk and prepared the milk for cheese making. Students enjoyed making, flavoring and tasting several cheese dips, and even got to take their own cheese dips home. Any student hoping to sign up for Livestock and Poultry classes at SCC can call 910-592-8081.
