A Turkey man who was reportedly panhandling at Burger King was arrested after it was found that he had outstanding felony warrants dating back more than seven years.

Charlie Ray Lassiter Jr., 36, of 131 Simpson Lane, Turkey, has been charged on warrants with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods.

At approximately 9:33 p.m. Monday, Officer Brent Hall responded to Burger King, at 100 Southeast Blvd., Clinton, in reference to a male suspect reportedly walking around the parking lot asking people for money.

According to reports, the officer was later informed that the subject’s name was Charlie Lassiter and he had a warrant for his arrest in a 2010 break-in. Those warrants were issued by the investigating agency, the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, on May 14, 2010, following a break-in at a neighboring Simpson Lane residence, authorities said.

Lassiter was taken into custody and transported to the magistrate’s office. He was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under $25,000 secured bond.
