Clinton Police Chief Donald Edwards distributes glowing necklaces to a line of waiting children during Friday night’s Block Party, a community celebration event sponsored by Olive Grove Church at the Sampson Center. The celebration happened at the tail end of a four-day summer camp hosted by the Clinton Police Department in conjunction with the church.

Friday’s Block Party hosted various activities and food for children and their families, the culmination of a four-day free summer camp hosted by the Clinton Police Department in which campers ages 9-14 learned about drug awareness, the responsibilities of police officers and how to use magnetic dust to lift fingerprints.

Olive Grove Church has partnered with Higher Level Ministries pastor Onyx Martin, as well as the Clinton Police Department, to host Friday night’s event. Also participating were the Clinton Fire Department, the Clinton Recreation and Parks Department, Olive Grove pastor Russ Emanuel, Grid Iron Gym, Councilman Darue Bryant, Rob Ayecock and Dr. Rodney Sessoms, among others.

Students who attended the summer camp were presented with their certificates of achievement as well as some goodies, courtesy of Olive Grove Church.
