Members of the Clinton Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. attended the sorority’s 53rd National Convention in Las Vegas.
The convention was held Aug. 3 through Aug. 9, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. The convention included various workshops, informative plenary sessions, worship services and opportunities for the sorority members to collaborate, fellowship, share knowledge and expertise, and learn more about the sorority.
In her Message from the National President, Dr. Paulette C. Walker shared that the location was “the perfect place for Delta Sigma Theta to conduct its business as we pride ourselves as being that bright spot in the lives of countless communities as we give hope to the hopeless, voice to the voiceless and guidance and direction to the disenfranchised.”
In attendance from the Clinton Alumnae Chapter were President Travis Pamela Bennett, Vice President La’Chandra Parker, and members Gloria Bennett and Shirley Williams. Dr. Walker shared that the convention afforded the more that 9000 sorority members in attendance an opportunity “to gain a deeper understanding of the Sorority’s practices while fostering memories with sorors, family and friends that will last for years to come.”
Clinton Alumnae Chapter President, Travis Bennett shared that “our chapter continues to be very involved at the local, state, regional and national levels.” The host Regional Director and Regional Representative viewed the convention as the celebration of “another milestone in the history of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated as we reach the pinnacle of Uncompromising Commitment to Communities: Service, Leadership, and Empowerment, together!”
