With stories about going back to school, the holidays and yucky stuff, librarians throughout Sampson County are ready for a new fall season.

The Sampson-Clinton Public Library ‘s Fall Story Time Program for 2017 is scheduled to begin Sept. 11 and will continue through December. The program will be offered at 4:30 p.m. throughout the season at branches throughout Sampson County, for children 5 to 10.

Children’s Librarian Tiffany Savage and the library system recently completed its Summer program and is ready for the fall lineup. She expressed how it’s important to keep students engaged in reading throughout the year.

“It allows kids to read books that interest them throughout the year,” she said. “When they’re in school they’ll be offered to read books that are required.”

Each session will have a different theme. Some of the subject matters involve back-to-school, Thanksgiving in November and the holiday season in December.

“We offer and present kids books centered around the theme,” she said. “So they have everything that the can think of.”

The October themes is titled “Adventures of all things awful, yucky, gross and disgusting. Savage expressed how it’s a fun substitute for Halloween.

After story time, the children will engage in an activity and have a chance to check out books.

“They can come to the library and see the resources we have to offer,” Savage said.

Registration is not required for the fall program. If a child is unable to attend a session at their local library, they may visit another branch on another day.

“We wanted offer it at each branch, so each location will have an opportunity,” Savage said.
