A 23-year-old Clinton man stands charged in a robbery, and others may be facing charges in connection with the incident, reported last week.

Devante Lajuan Foster, 23, of 221-C Moseley Ave., Clinton, was charged Monday with common law robbery, a felony offense. Bond set at $35,000 secured. Foster was served with the warrant, issued Friday, at the Sampson County Law Enforcement Center. The alleged incident occurred on Sept. 26.

“The victim reported she was outside of her residence when she was approached by the suspects,” Sheriff’s Lt. Marcus Smith stated. “The suspects threatened the victim with a weapon and robbed her of cash and personal items.”

Investigators “obtained sufficient probable cause” during their investigation to arrest Foster.

“The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible,” Smith said.

Foster has previously been convicted of weapons charges — carrying a concealed weapon — in Sampson County in both 2014 and 2015, stemming from incidents in 2011 and 2015, respectively. He received a suspended sentence in both cases, with the probationary term on the last conviction still listed as “active” in N.C. Department of Public Safety records.
