The trick-or-treating is done, Halloween is over, and now it’s time to go online and cast your vote in The Sampson Independent’s Halloween Extravaganza or virtual costume party.

Each unique visitor is able to cast one vote per day for their favorite ghost or goblin. Voting for the contest began Monday, and will run through Nov. 19.

If you haven’t had a chance to submit your entry, don’t worry. There is still time to do so at www.clintonnc.com, where you just click on the contest logo and follow the simple instructions to enter. Submissions can be made through the remainder of the contest, but the earlier your submission is made, the more chances you will have to receive votes.

The Halloween Extravaganza or virtual costume party is a great way to get the community involved and businesses giving back, Independent staff noted. The winner of the contest will receive a $100 grand prize, and is being sponsored by Southeastern Foundation and Crawl Space Repair, the contest’s title sponsor.

Similar to contests that have been held in the past, $50 prizes will be awarded to the winners of four other categories, which include, cutest costume, funniest costume, most original costume, best character, and scariest costume.

Matthews Health Mart will be sponsoring the best Disney or movie character category.

Wiley and Potts is sponsoring the funniest costume, Clinton Drug is sponsoring the most original costume, Freedom Family Homes is sponsoring the scariest costume and joining the sponsorship list this year is National Finance, who is sponsoring the cutest costume.

“We appreciate each of our sponsors’ support,” said Shannon Best, SI advertising manager. “When you visit their business, and we hope you do that often, please be sure to thank them for supporting this community event.”

Winners are chosen by online visitors who will be allowed to cast votes — one per day — for those pictured in their best costumes. Voting will continue through Nov. 19, and winners will be announced Nov. 23

Just like with other SI contests, participants — whether entering, voting or viewing — must have a valid email address, which must be listed as they fill out the online form.

With hopes of encouraging more participation, Best assures the process of submitting and voting has been made simple, all in an effort to better serve the readers and the community.

“We don’t want this to be difficult; we want it to be easy and fun, which it should be.”

Best offered thanks once again to the advertising sponsors for their participation and belief in the fun and advantages of the online contest, and urged residents to frequent those businesses and offer their thanks as well.

“Without our advertising partners, these contests, which so many love, simply wouldn’t be possible. I hope others will support them the way they support this community and these projects,” she reiterated.

To submit a photo of you or someone flaunting their cutest, funniest, best character and most original costume or to vote for your choice, visit www.clintonnc.com, click on the contest logo and follow the steps to enter a submission or to cast your vote.
