Harrells Christian Academy’s FFA Chapter has been chosen as a weekly winner of the Nationwide FFA Chapter Tribute and is also in the running for Nationwide’s Chapter Tribute Sweepstakes.
HCA’s chapter will be featured on RFD-TV’s television show This Week in Agribusiness, this weekend, Aug. 29-31. HCA’s FFA was recognized due in large part to their outstanding 2014-15 school year. The chapter raised $5,100 in five days for the Kids Walk for Kids with Cancer, whose monies go to support pediatric cancer research at the Sloan Kettering Memorial Cancer Center.
In addition, the chapter’s Agriculture Appreciation Breakfast last February raised over $100,000 for the development of their new agriculture education complex.
“This feat would not have been possible without the support of our amazing community and a generous gift from Cargill,” stated FFA sponsor Chris Bell. The chapter also hit 100 members for the first time since its founding in 2006 and competed in over 15 Career Development Events.
In addition to the television show, HCA’s chapter has been entered into Nationwide’s 2015 Chapter Tribute Sweepstakes. Their submission will stay on the Nationwide Supports FFA website through Dec. 15.
They encourage the entire community to vote daily and ask friends and family to vote for the HCA FFA chapter too. Simply go to www.nationwidesupportsffa.com, register, and then vote; their chapter is on page 3 of the listing of schools. The three grand prize winners are determined by online voting, with cash prizes at hand. Online voting is open through December 15, 2015.
This Week in Agribusiness airs on RFDtv four times throughout this upcoming weekend. Air times are 8 a.m. on Saturdays, 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sundays, and 9 a.m. on Mondays (all times are Eastern Standard). RFDtv is viewed via satellite on either Dish Network Channel 231 or DirecTV Channel 345. RFDtv will also host the episode online for a week following its premiere. HCA will post the link to their website, www.harrellsca.com, when it becomes available.
