At the Sept. 17 Clinton Rotary meeting, Dempsey Craig (pictured right) introduced his guest speaker, Bill Scott (pictured left). Scott, Vice President of First Citizens Bank, shared his passion for hiking with us and explained the role of an organization called ‘Friends for the Mountain to Sea Trail’. They build hiking trails throughout the state including Sampson County. The goal is to make hiking available to all who wish to enjoy it while routing the trails through or near many natural and historic points of interest. The long term goal is to have 1,150 miles of hiking trails providing the ability to hike from the mountains to the coast.
