Charles “Chuck” West II was promoted to Major, overseeing the Criminal Investigations Division, of the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, and honored May 7 during a ceremony in Raleigh.

West is the son of Charles and Sandra West of Clinton. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1988.

After high school, West graduated from Sampson Community College receiving an associate’s degree in criminal justice in 1991. He continued his education and earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from North Carolina Central University in 2014. West also completed the Administrative Officer’s Management Program from N.C. State in 2005 and is presently completing his master’s degree in public administration.

After being employed by the Wendell Police Department in 1991, West pursued a career with the Wake County Sheriff’s Office and was hired in 1992.

West’s first assignment with the sheriff’s office was bailiff. He has worked in all areas of the sheriff’s office.

West is married to Wendy West and has three children, Kaitlyn, Gabby and Hunter. He currently resides in Willow Springs.
