NEWTON GROVE — Three masked suspects wielding weapons forced their way into a Newton Grove home in broad daylight Tuesday, tied up four victims and stole various items before making their getaway, according to reports from Sampson County Sheriff’s authorities.

The armed robbery was reported at 2:14 p.m., having occurred at 86 Elm Tree Lane, Newton Grove, about an hour earlier.

The case remains under investigation, with limited leads and sketchy suspect descriptions due to their faces being concealed. There were reportedly four victims in the robbery, including a 32-year-old man, 32-year-old woman and two teenagers, a 17-year-old girl and 13-year-old juvenile.

“Victims reported that they were in their residence when three unknown subjects forced their way into the residence brandishing firearms,” said Sheriff’s Lt. Marcus Smith. “They were bound, and (electronic) equipment, jewelry and cash money was stolen.”

Reports list numerous items stolen in the incident, including a 60-inch LG TV, valued at $1,000, as well as Sony stereo equipment, valued at another $200. A diamond ring, reportedly valued at $300, and a white gold ring, valued at $100, were taken from the woman. A undisclosed sum of cash was also taken.

Three electric cords were seized as part of the investigation, reports state. While the incident was listed in initial reports as an assault, there were no injuries sustained, according to Smith, who said there was no further information on the suspects, their description or a possible suspect vehicle.

The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office at 910-592-4141.
